History

A method of one pot cooking, Balti was the brainchild of a Birmingham restauranteur, over 40 years ago, who wanted to attract Western customers as well as those from the local Pakistani community. Using a combination of spices, cooked in vegetable oil rather than ghee, Balti is a fast cooking method where the dish is both cooked and served up in the specially designed balti pan.

Made in Birmingham using pressed-steel, just like the original 1970s bowls which gave birth to this iconic dish. Our bowls represent an unlikely marriage; a marriage between the industry, wit and charm of England's second city to the spiced heat, courage and innovative flair of it's Pakistani immigrants.
